Fuel Price Crisis: NPP’s Botchway Jnr Calls for NPA Boss’ Resignation

 

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team, Lawyer Botchway Jnr, has called for the resignation of the Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo, over the rising cost of petroleum products and growing concerns about the impact of fuel prices on Ghanaians.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Monday, August 3, 2026, Lawyer Botchway Jnr criticised the leadership of the NPA, arguing that the challenges confronting Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector have become too severe under the current leadership.

According to him, the situation has reached a point where the NPA boss must take responsibility and step aside.

“Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo, the NPA boss, must resign! It is becoming painfully clear that the job has overwhelmed him,” Lawyer Botchway Jnr stated.

Rising Fuel Prices Trigger Public Concern

The call for the NPA Chief Executive’s resignation comes amid increasing public frustration over the cost of fuel across the country.

“I just bought diesel at almost GH₵19 per litre. At this point, Ghanaians are being punished at the pumps while the NPA boss watches helplessly,” he said.
