GNPC Foundation Breaks Ground for Ultra-Modern Community Centre at Mpaha
The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Foundation has broken ground for the construction of an ultra-modern community centre at Mpaha in the Yapei/Kusawgu Constituency of the Savannah Region.
The groundbreaking ceremony was undertaken together with the management of GNPC and the Member of Parliament for Yapei/Kusawgu, John Abdulai Jinapor, who also serves as Minister for Energy.
According to Mr Jinapor, the new facility is expected to become an important centre for youth development and civic engagement in Mpaha.
Beyond entertainment and recreation, the centre is expected to provide space for youth mentorship and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training, giving young people opportunities to acquire practical skills and participate more actively in the development of their community.
The project is also expected to provide a dedicated space for youth programmes, skills development, recreation and civic activities when completed.
Mr Jinapor expressed his appreciation to the GNPC Foundation for undertaking the project and said the Foundation had committed to completing the facility within six months.
The project adds to ongoing discussions around the need for community infrastructure that goes beyond physical development and creates opportunities for young people to build skills and engage in community activities.
For residents of Mpaha and surrounding communities, the completion of the facility could provide a new platform for youth programmes, learning, mentorship and community engagement.
