Savannah’s 184 NPP Delegates Join National Executive Elections

Savannah Region has 184 delegates participating in the New Patriotic Party’s national executive elections as the party begins another phase of its internal reorganisation.

The New Patriotic Party is holding its National Delegates Congress and National Officers’ Elections today, Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

A total of 7,163 delegates from across Ghana are expected to participate in the exercise.

The Savannah Region has 184 delegates, according to figures released ahead of the elections. The regional delegation is the smallest among the 16 regions.

The congress is expected to consider proposed amendments to sections of the party’s constitution before delegates proceed with the election of national officers.

Among the positions being contested are National Chairman, General Secretary, National Organiser, National Women’s Organiser, National Youth Organiser, National Treasurer and National Communications Director.

Reports indicate that 45 aspirants are contesting nine national executive positions.

The Electoral Commission is expected to supervise the voting process, while security arrangements have been put in place around the venue.

For the Savannah Region, the elections provide an opportunity for its 184 delegates to participate directly in determining the composition of the party’s national leadership.

The congress also comes as political parties begin preparations for the next general election cycle.

However, claims about which candidate has an advantage or is likely to win remain political assessments until official results are declared.

The final outcome of the elections will determine the NPP’s national executive structure for the next phase of its political organisation.
